Discover what makes this drink a southern cult classic. Blenheim Ginger Ale is bottled by Blenheim Bottlers in Dillon County, South Carolina. It's roots can be traced back to 1781 and a natural mineral spring in Blenheim, South Carolina. In the 1890s Dr. C.R. May began prescribing water from the mineral spring to his patients suffering with stomach ailments. Dr. May’s patients foundrelief from the water, but complained about the taste. Dr. Max combined Jamaican ginger and sugar with the local mineral waters to make a tonic that was not just effective, but also tasty! The drink took off, and in 1903, Blenheim Bottling Company began. Today Blenheim is the oldest continuously operated independent soda brand in the world. From their bottling facility in Hamer, SC, located in the South of the Border complex - a roadside attraction for generations - they keep the tradition of South Carolina's favorite soda alive and well. Blenheim makes three drinks: Old #3 Hot (Red Cap), #5 Not as Hot (Gold Cap) and #9 Diet (White Cap).
